DS Portal
Your Hub for Disability Services
The DS Portal is an online system designed to help you manage your accommodations and services. There are different portals for students, note-takers, and faculty, but as a student, you’ll use the DS Student Portal.
Getting Started with the DS Student Portal
- New Students: If you’re new to Disability Services, you’ll use the DS Student Portal to complete your intake form and upload disability documentation. Just log in with your NinerNET username and password and click the “Submit Documentation” icon.
- Current Students: If you’re already connected with Disability Services, the DS Portal is how you manage everything.
- Newly approved students will need to schedule an Interactive Meeting with a DS staff member to get Portal access.
- Returning students without Portal access should schedule a Check-In appointment with a DS staff member.
What Students Can Do in the DS Portal
The DS Student Portal is your go-to for:
- Requesting accommodations and sending your Accommodation Letters directly to your instructors.
- Remember This: Send your Accommodation Letters near the start of each semester to ensure your accommodations are in place. Once sent, make sure to follow up with your instructors to discuss your accommodations.
- Scheduling tests, quizzes, and final exams at the DS Test Center.
- Requesting note-takers and downloading class notes.
- Keeping track of your DS appointments, including scheduled tests and finals.
Important Information
- Accommodation Letters: Once sent for the semester, you can download a copy by logging into the DS Student Portal, clicking “Request Accommodation Letters,” and then “Get letter” next to your course. Remember, letters aren’t saved in the Portal after the semester ends.
- Scheduling Tests in the DS Test Center: You’re responsible for scheduling your tests through the Portal, making sure to meet deadlines:
- Fall/Spring: 6 days before the test date.
- Summer: 3 days before the test date.
- Final Exams: By the date listed on our website and in the DS Portal.
- Note: Disability Services does not schedule exams on Reading Day.
- Trouble Logging In? Use your NinerNET username and password.
- Questions or Support? Contact your assigned DS staff member. If you’re not yet connected with our office, visit our webpage on getting connected for services.
- Need Help with the Portal? Join one of our live webinars.
DS Faculty Portal
The DS Faculty Portal is your online hub for managing student Accommodation Letters and test requests.
What Faculty can do the Portal
- Access Accommodation Letters: View and confirm receipt of your students’ official Accommodation Letters.
- Track Accommodations: Easily see which students in each of your courses have sent you Accommodation Letters.
- Manage Test Center Requests: Review requests for students to test in the DS Test Center.
- Provide Test Details: Submit necessary test administration information.
- Upload Test Materials: Securely upload exam materials for students testing with Disability Services.
How It Works
When a student with accommodations sends their letter or a test request, you’ll receive an email notification from disability@charlotte.edu or dstestcenter@charlotte.edu, respectively.
Logging In
Use your NinerNET username (e.g., “jsmith7”, not your email address) and password. Do not include “@uncc.edu” or “@charlotte.edu.”
DS Note Taker Portal
Students interested in volunteering to be a note taker will use the online DS Note Taker Portal to apply. Once selected, note takers will use the Portal to upload and manage class notes.
